Hi! My name is Sophia. I am a sweet kitty looking for a hospice home. I came to the Monmouth County SPCA because my owner moved and couldn’t take me along. When I came to the shelter, the medical staff noticed a large, painful mass on the side of my body. The nice veterinarian removed the mass, which made me feel so much better! Unfortunately, though, tests revealed the mass to be a malignant tumor.
Given the location and size of the tumor, my prognosis is poor. It is highly likely that the cancer will recur and that further diagnostics and/or treatments would not change the outcome. Further treatment could also be extremely painful, and I really don’t want to go through that.
What I am looking for is a loving home where I can enjoy the rest of my life. The doctor said my estimated projected lifespan is about a year. Despite all of that, I am a very happy and good natured girl. Everyone tells me that I am a joy to be around. I don’t let anything get me down! I would be happy being your only pretty princess. I would also be happy living with another laidback and independent kitty like myself. I am about 6 years young.
